Collector`s Loft: Awesome White Modern Loft In San Antonio

So what would you do with 19,2Ksqf loft of a factory dated back to 1920s, which has 2 floors and a roof while you're an art collector yourself? This one in San Antonio, was being brought to Poteet Architects and with some modern wizardry called contemporary designs, it turned out to be this awesome all-white loft, named Collector's Loft.

How awesome is it? It's the 100-best-spaces-Metropolitan-Home-magazine-version kind of awesome.

While this loft is in-fact spacious, the all white canvas heighten contrast between its original concrete structures with new walls, floors that's shiny epoxy as well as its varnished cabinetry.

Poteet Architects explained :

Both old structure and new interventions are rendered in white, emphasizing the textural contrast of the existing masonry and board-formed concrete with the new walls, luminous epoxy floors and lacquered cabinetry.

On the lower level, where the main living spaces are located, tall skylight shafts and inset porches, created by steel and glass partitions, bring diffuse light deep into the space.

The upper level is treated as a series of galleries, including a black box theater for video art and a soaring 18’ tall gallery created by cutting away the existing concrete structure.

On the landscaped roof level, the raised volume of the tall gallery, clad in corten, is a spectacular space for entertaining.

The challenge was, to develop fresh space for urban living which encompass spaces as well as materials dissimilarity, kinetic interferences to mold areas and extreme sense of fanciful plus unforeseen. So the designer came-up with this open concept for almost every part of the indoors, we can see that from the major utilization of glass for the walls. Both inside out and outside in, everything is available to look through. The indoors also being minimized for the used of borders, which means each spaces are practically in the same large area, smartly maintain their uniqueness of their own, without overlapping each other yet complimenting each other.
